Model M76 Deck Installation

Please read complete instructions before beginning!

  1. Turn off your Hot and Cold water lines under your sink. (If you do not have shut off valves under your sink, you must shut off your water at your pump or meter.)
  2. If you do not have shut-offs under your sink, we recommend you install them while making this installation.
  3. Remove your present water faucet from your sink.
  4. Install Deck Type Fittings onto your sink and water pipes using the following instructions:

  5. If you are installing a model M76XL, please read the M76XL Installation Addendum at this point.

Note: We strongly recommend that you have working shutoff valves installed on the water lines at the DISHMASTER location. We suggest attaching your water lines to the DISHMASTER with flexible faucet supply lines. The inlet tube fittings on the faucet are 1/2" IPS. The second fitting on the supply line is determined by the size required for your shut off valves.

    1. Place steel washers onto deck unions with crown side up.
    2. Place large black rubber washers over threads up under steel washers as shown.
    3. Put deck union bodies down through holes in sink.
    4. Screw plastic lock nuts onto deck union bodies under sink sink until they touch sink. DO NOT TIGHTEN.
    5. Connect the water supply lines to the deck union bodies. (if you are using copper supply lines, it is optional whether you use the plastic tail piece nut furnished with our unions or brass nuts if part of your fittings).
    6. Flush water pipes of all chips and foreign matter by turning on the water momentarily, being careful not to spray water over your kitchen. Hold a pan or towel over the unions while performing this operation. Screens must NOT be in unions when flushing pipes.
    7. Push screens into top of unions with thumbs. DO NOT use a tool. You may damage the screens.
    8. Push O-rings into grooves on front of deck union heads with thumbs.
  1. Disassemble the handles, cover and tank as follows:
  2. Be sure O-rings and screens are in place in union heads, then connect the valve body onto the unions. DO NOT over tighten the union nuts. Finger tighten or very lightly snug with pliers only. DO NOT use wrench as O-ring seals are used.
  3. Adjust complete assembly straight on sink and tighten plastic lock nuts (See "e" in Deck illustration above) under sink with pliers.

  4. Turn water on and check all connections for any possible leaks. If a leak appears at these connections, remove body and check for foreign matter under O-rings and tighten inserts in union nuts with a large screw driver being sure the nut swivels freely when insert is tight.
  5. Replace the detergent tank and reconnect the plastic tube.
  6. Now reassemble the cover, front panel and brass rings.
  7. Adjust position of handles on faucet stems to achieve correct pressure on valve seals.
  8. The handles are equipped with built-in stops to eliminate unnecessary pressure being put on the valve bib washers when closing the valves. When the handles are properly set, this stop will lengthen the life of your bib washers by many times.

    Set each handle separately:

    1. Using the handle, open the valve and close it slowly until the water flow stops. DO NOT CLOSE IT BEYOND THIS POINT.
    2. Pull out the handle to remove it from the valve stem.
    3. Replace the handle on valve stem with the lever next to the stop as shown.
    4. You will note that the end of the valve stem is serrated or notched. Slowly pull the handle out about 1/4 inch or until it is disengaged from the stem. Turn the lever on the handle away from the stop one notch then push the handle back onto stem. This setting will give the proper amount of squeeze on the valve bib washer.
    5. Now fasten the handle on with the valve handle screws.

Note: Chrome-plated sink hole covers are available at plumbing and hardware departments of stores for covering extra holes not used on your sink.

Keep the Wall Fittings included with this unit in case you change your sink type later.
