Installing your DishmasterŪ M2000

Removing your old faucet

  • Penetrating oil
  • Basin wrench (adjustable wrench, arc-joint pliers)
  • Bucket
  • Putty knife
  • Towels
  • Safety goggles

We recommend you prep the removal of your old faucet twenty-four hours before you plan to install your new DishmasterŪ.

    Preparation
  1. Remove everything that is stored beneath the sink to allow lots of room to work.
  2. Spray penetrating oil on the old mounting nuts and supply-tube coupling nuts. You will probably have to lie on your back under the sink. Place a couple towels on the bottom of the cabinet to cushion your back. Wear safety goggles. (NOTE: Examine your shut-off valves and supply lines. If they are not in good condition, you may want to replace them. We strongly recommend that you have shut-off valves and we believe flexible supply lines are the most convenient way to connect your water supply. If you intend to replace the valves or supply lines, spray penetrating oil on their fittings.)

  3. Twenty-four hours later
  4. Shut off the water valves under the sink by turning the handles to the right (clockwise). Turn the faucet on, both hot and cold, to check that the valves are off. No water should come out.
  5. Place a couple of towels on the bottom of the cabinet to cushion your back. Wear safety goggles. Have a container, or another towel, ready to catch the water that remains in the supply lines. Remove the old supply-tube coupling nuts from the faucet.
  6. Remove the mounting nuts that hold the old faucet to the sink/counter top.
  7. If your faucet has an accessory such as a spray attachment, remove components as necessary to be able to remove the old faucet.
  8. Remove the old faucet by pulling straight up. If the faucet appears to be stuck, gently work the tip of a putty knife under the edge of the old faucet assembly. Be careful not to scratch the sink/counter surface.
  9. Remove any putty or caulk and clean the sink/counter surface.
